Project: Haematology Unit
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Client: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
Value: £ 2,400,000
Programme: 42 weeks
Architect: Race Cottam Associates
Contract: JCT 2005
The project was for the internal strip out and refurbishment of wards in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield.
The works included the revamp and expansion of the Haematology Wards O1, O2, P3 and P4, including the Haematology Clinic, and the construction of a new Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
Logistically challenging and requiring an external lift covering two floors, the contract was undertaken whilst the hospital remained in full 24 hour use.
Close liaison with the hospital staff and medical teams ensured that disruption to every day running of the department was kept to a minimum for the duration of the 42 week contract.
