23 ECO Homes Rotherham

The £2.7 million development for South Yorkshire Housing Association was completed in the summer of 2007 and was made possible by grants from the Regional Housing Board, The Energy Savings Trust and land gifted by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Global climate change and the increasing cost of energy are becoming key drivers in delivering sustainable housing solutions throughout the UK. This highly eco-friendly development uses state of the art renewable energy technologies including solar thermal collectors to provide hot water.   Wind turbines, combined with super insulated construction, allow residents to benefit from savings on their energy bills.  The development consists of 23, three bedroom affordable homes on a sale and rent basis all with a contemporary design using locally sourced materials wherever possible.

The project achieved a BREEAM rating of 'Excellent'.
